Scheduling Appointments

We're concerned about you missing school or work, and we schedule appointments so that each patient receives a fair share of convenient appointments. This approach allows us to minimize the number of appointments that are necessary during school or work hours. Your time and convenience are important to us.

We try to schedule most appointments after school with the following exceptions:

  • Long Appointments - this includes the placement and removal of braces and appliances
  • Repairs
  • Special Procedures

The above appointments are usually scheduled during school hours.

Orthodontic appointments are generally scheduled as 5-8 week intervals. Keeping your regular appointments is the family's responsibility. We will schedule your appointments at check out, to ensure that you stay on track with your treatment. If you arrive home and realize that this appointment will not work with your schedule, please call us right away so that we can schedule you child within the time frame suggested to enable continuity of treatment. If there is an interruption in your treatment and you will miss several appointments (i.e. injury, summer plans, personal situations) please notify us so we can adjust the treatment plan and estimated completion date accordingly.

The primary goals of our schedule are to see every patient on time for their appointments and update both our patients and their parents at each visit. For the best and most efficient treatment outcome we ask that you adhere to the following:

  • Arrive on time to your appointments. The success of our schedule is reliant on patients arriving on time. We are committed to see every patient on time; therefore it is difficult to accommodate late patients. We will offer a late arrival the choice of either waiting or rescheduling for another day and time.
  • We ask that one parent or adult accompany a school-age patient to their appointment. This allows us to keep you informed regarding the procedure performed, the next appointment needed and the progress to date.
  • Please keep every scheduled appointment. To wait several weeks for a convenient appointment may result in unfavorable tooth movement and prolonged treatment time.
  • In an effort to accommodate as many patients as possible and minimize excessive time away from school and work, we schedule only relatively short appointments during the early mornings and afternoons between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00p.m. Longer appointments are generally scheduled in the morning or early afternoon. A suggestion for school-aged patients is to arrange longer appointments during non-academic or elective classes, or during the lunch period.
